The site for a free music-lessons program run out of Williams College
The story
A friend at Williams College runs a program teaching guitar, piano, and voice to kids whose families can't afford lessons. I built the website for it: lesson pages by instrument, testimonials, and contact and donation forms. Kept it deliberately simple, just static HTML and CSS on GitHub Pages, so it loads fast and parents can actually find what they need.
What I learned
- 01The people using this are parents looking for one specific thing, so the whole site is built to get them to it rather than to show off.
- 02Static HTML on GitHub Pages was the right call for a volunteer program that cannot carry a hosting bill or a maintainer.
- 03No build step means the site still works in two years when nobody has run an install on it.
The mission
Built to make music education approachable, the site organizes lessons by instrument and keeps the experience lightweight for students, parents, and educators. It is designed to remove barriers and help kids build confidence through creativity.
